Certain types of details are naturally "sticky" for the mind.Use those biases
First and Last details
The primacy effect says your brain remembers the first details of an experience/listThe recency effect says your brain remembers the most recent or last details of an experience/list
1
Faces
The brain has dedicated neurons called "face cells" in the orbitofrontal cortex, which are responsible for vision. They make us detect and remember faces with extraordinary reliability.
2
Negative details
In a crude way, the brain remembers negative information 10 times more effectively than neutral or positive information. Because it's useful for our safety.
Our strongest memory is visuo-spatial memory, which is the arrangement of details, like maps, interiors, etc.The google effect says we remember where info is more than what it is. We know how to search.
Feelings are the "tags" we put on an experience. When we meet others, we often just remember what they made us feel. Hack: Make people feel good meeting you, then they'll remember you.
5
Peak moments
In any long experience like a trip or a relationship, we mostly start remembering only the "highlights" and forget about the mundane stuff.
6
Contrasts
The brain loves contrasts. Adverts use contrasting colors, dramatic imagery for safety products, etc., only to stand out. Attention goes to contrasting things quickly.
7
Knowledge Connections
Our brains can process information that fits our existing knowledge. That foundation of knowledge captures new information. If it relates to you in some way, it is more memorable.
